Mobile satellite voice and data provider Globalstar has announced to have signed agreements with TESACOM to launch distribution of the SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger in Argentina, Chile, and Paraguay this week.
Tesacom is South America’s leading provider of remote telecommunications solutions, serving the government, commercial and military markets.
SPOT is a GPS locator that relies on the satellite communication system from Globalstar which makes it perfectly adapted for outdoor sports and more generally out of cellular coverage usage. The handheld device determines a user’s GPS location coordinates and transmits that location and the user’s status using the satellite network. In an emergency, SPOT can send a message including the user’s GPS coordinates to an emergency response call-centre. SPOT’s web tracking functionality visually tracks the geographic locations of the unit using Google Maps.
