AVIS is now offering a Portable navigation Device (PND) to its customers in Italy. The car rental company has partnered with Touring Club Italiano (TCI) who has been selling its own PND since 2007.
The so-called “T-370″ has a 3.5 inch screen, map data from NAVTEQ and its navigation software MyNav is from Italian provider Giove. The T-370 was €499 at launch in February 2007; it is now selling at €99.
Touristic content and audio guides
This PND offers 75 itineraries to discover the country with audio guides and texts as well as 12,000 Points of Interests selected by TCI. Its “autostrada” (highway) mode offers some unique features for those who want to discover Italy: it display names of upcoming cities along the road with associated touristic information. There is also the distance and time to the next exit as well as the nearest gas station and restaurants along the way.
Avis was previously partnering with TomTom for its GPS systems in Italy; it is not clear if Avis will have both PNDs available in the future.
